I have not thought about that, but I think this is the best option;
there are inherent problems with sending across, for example, RTF
document, because it might not contain certain things which AW document
would and those will be filled by some defaults on import. For example
RTF doc does not contain uuid, which means the importer will create one
for it; in order for that to be same on both ends, we would need to take
additional steps. There might be other things like that. In contrast
broadcasting the document as we would to an exporter will guarantee us
identical PT on both ends.
