The article surveys the AbiWord, Paint.NET and Screamer Radio
applications.
About AbiWord, the gist is as follows.
Excellent wordprocessor, which serves as MS-Word replacement.
It is lightweight in both size (4.8MB vs. few hundred MB in OpenOffice
package) and in startup time.
Good value for those users, who want only to write a letter.
AbiWord contains Hebrew GUI which is a bit defective [Omer: mea culpa,
I didn't update translations and made no effort to finish them]. Full
Hebrew support in editing documents, except for Hebrew dictionaries.
Good integration with English and numbers.
Summary of advantages: Free Software, comfortable, familiar, does not
consume resources.
Summary of disadvantages: is not part of an office suite, does not
include Hebrew dictionary, is not fully stable.
Bottom line: excellent replacement for MS-Word.
Grade: 4.5 stars of maximum 5 stars.
Version: 2.2.3.
