All subsequent changes you make to the document are stored inside the
document.

Toggling it off means that new changes are no longer recored. However,
the history information which is already present in the document will
remain in the document unless you use the 'Purge History' command.

The version number is increased on each save. Reverting to an older
version of the document takes you to the state of the document as it was
at that particular save. It, however, does not change the original
document -- it creates a new document reflecting the state.

That is a bug (a regression really, since this used to work) -- could
you please file it in bugzilla?

If "show document after revisions" is selected, the document appears as
it would if all the revisions were accepted, and you should not see any
revision marking in the document.

If "show document after previous revisions" is selected, the only
revision marking that is visible is for the current revision; all the
previous revisions are hidden (treated as if they were accepted). This
reduces the clutter in a document with a large number of distinct revisions.
