Even if Latex2HTML uses pictures for everything tricky, I believe that the possibility to load Latex documents in Abiword would be a great benefit. Latex2HTML does a very good job on converting Latex documents to HTML, and I think it is rather easy to rewrite it to produce xml .abw files. (Yes I should do it myself if it is so easy, but I lack the knowledge of abiword filter structure, and time, I am trying to trick someone with some spare time and interest).
