We are getting there, the recent BIDI-builds were pretty stable,
except I have done some (needed) speed optimatisation of drawing
and width calculations and this introduced a couple new bugs, but I
think I have got them covered now but I need to take a few days to
test it more intensively to make sure.
I thought we could turn it on by default after the 0.9.5 release but
that was on the assumption there would be 0.9.6 by which time we
would have time to get any problems this might cause for the non-
bidi users. If the next release after 0.9.5 is 1.0 we could still do
that, but would really have put it through rigorous testing before 1.0
goes out (but I expect we will be doing that anyway, and we could
always trun it of again if we experience too many problems to leave
it in 1.0).
I think I could have the bidi stuff ready for release by the end of
next week. (the main source of delays is the fact I currently do not
have access to MS VC; this should change soon, but not soon
enought to make a difference to this next release). So if anyone
wanted and could help testing and debugging the win32 version it
would speed things up.
As of the moment there is no convenient way for people getting a
bidi build, the 0.9.4 release came at a bad time for BIDI and it is
very buggy. To have a working bidi release was the main reason for
making the 0.9.5 release quite early, but it has got somewhat
delayed (mainly by my own doing :-)). So the only way to get win32
bidi build is your website with the tinderbox builds, the problem
with that is that the CVS head is work in progress and there are no
guaranties of anything (the version I downloaded yesterday
segfaulted on startup).
